June Pride Events 2022

Spread the love

Join us on Saturday, June 11th to start your weekend off right! Solidarity Crossfit is offering two free classes, 10:30 and 11:30, to get back in touch with our bodies. All welcome, regardless of fitness level, and you won’t leave empty handed! Gifts of rainbow Bluetooth speaker packs will be given to the first 20 participants, sweet treats from BakerNoBakery will be available to purchase, and there will even be a raffle with the prize of a 60 minute session with Rivanna Cryo! While classes are free, donations are appreciated and will go to benefit the OUT Foundation.

Then we’ll head over to Kardinal Hall for some brunch, drinks, and board games. Can’t make it to the workout? Join us for brunch anyways! Friends and family welcome.

Friends and family are also welcome on Saturday, June 25th for our All Ages Roll with Pride skate day at Tonsler Park from 2-6pm. This event is free for kids ages 14 and under, otherwise tickets are $5. Bring your own skates, borrow from a friend, or rent some from De La Roll for $5. (We will also be taking donation to cover the rental fees for children skaters!) There will be music, a craft, food trucks, and the BEST company and community.

Towards the end of the month, Charley Burton will be talking about his newly released autobiography “The Boy Beneath My Skin” at the Northside Branch of JMRL. Charley’s book is about his journey to become the man he is today- small town childhood, recovery from addiction, transition, growth, triumph. Following some questions, Charley will also have copies of his book available to purchase and signing. Not ready to join us in person? This event will be hybrid and is available to attend over Zoom. Please register if you plan to attend.

And we’ll be closing out National Pride Month with a farewell Happy Hour at Vitae Spirits at their Water St. tasting room. Join us for creative drinks, fun music, and fabulous company! There will be a raffle with local prizes, $5 per ticket or $20 for 5 tickets, as well as a special craft cocktail where $1 from every sale goes back to Pride. Order some food from a downtown eatery, pick a chair, and settle in for some celebration! Non-alcoholic drinks available, dogs welcome, masks encourages but not required.
