Cville Pride Celebrates Pride Month at The Bridge

Coming this June 2018, for annual Pride Month, The Bridge will host a photography show and several Cville Pride events.

Redefining the Family Photo: What family looks like for LGBTQ people in Charlottesville

June 1- 30, 2018 @ The Bridge PAI

Join us for a group show presenting the myriad permutations of “family” experienced by the LGBTQ community in Charlottesville. Often excluded from enjoying traditional and biological connections, LGBTQ individuals have had to redefine who constitutes a family, creating a sense of belonging and community in places and ways that challenge norms and assumptions about what a family can mean. In the context of the last several years of social and legal change — Cville Pride organization, marriage equality, for example – these photos show us how the definition of family has emerged and morphed here in our local experiences of celebration, grief, and protest.

Featured photographers to include: Eze Amos, Guillermo Ubilla, Christian DeBaun, Sarah Cramer, Jeff Cornejo, as well as photos from youth.
