Virginia Festival of the Book 2018: Cville Pride Sponsorship

The Virginia Festival of the Book promotes and celebrates books, reading, literacy, and literary culture. The 24th annual festival will be held March 21-25, 2018.

Cville Pride is sponsoring the following discussions.

Fractured Characters: Fiction

When: Thursday, March 22, 12 PM

Where: Central JMRL Library

Authors Jessie Chaffee (Florence in Ecstasy), Noley Reid (Pretend We Are Lovely), and Lauren Sanders (The Book of Love and Hate) discuss their work, following the stories of emotionally fractured characters.

Queering the Narrative

When: Friday, March 23, 12 PM 

Where: CitySpace

Jim Downs (Stand By Me) and Dan Kois (The World Only Spins Forward) discuss their new books and the frequently overlooked LGBTQ histories.

 Youth in Revolt: Fiction That Refuses to Conform

When: Saturday, March 24 at 10 AM

Where: Barnes & Noble

Gabrielle Lucille Fuentes (The Sleeping World), Cara Hoffman (Running), and SJ Sindu (Marriage of a Thousand Lies) discuss their novels about young people and the fight to find oneself amidst the tumult and politics of the modern world.

 Marriage Beyond Borders: Fact & Fiction

When: Saturday, March 24 at 2 PM

Where: City Council Chambers

Journalist Elizabeth Flock (The Heart is a Shifting Sea: Love and Marriage in Mumbai) and novelist SJ Sindu (Marriage of a Thousand Lies: A Novel) discuss their books and the intimate perspectives they provide on marriages: arranged, loving, truthful, and otherwise.
